Welcome to the Heart of Europe
During the 6th Annual Meeting of our society
in Montréal in June 2006 Germany was hosting the
18th FIFA Soccer World Championship and was
presenting itself as a country of great hospitality. One year later,
CAOS-International will hold its Annual Meeting in Germany for the first time ever.
Computer assisted orthopaedic surgery is well established in Germany.
From the late 1990's on pioneering German clinics were among the first
to apply navigation technology and medical robotics in spine surgery,
total joint replacement, and other areas. Today, computer assisted
approaches seem to be at the edge of becoming state-of-the-art.
A recent study reported that navigation is used in 30% of all clinics that
perform total joint replacements1.
However, Germany is also a great place to visit for vacation with Heidelberg being
an ideal starting point. Come and see the spectacular castles along the rivers
Rhine and Neckar or enjoy the world-class wines that grow in the Heidelberg region.
