Versailles
CAOS 2010 will take place in the city of Versailles, which is located some 20 minutes
(by train) west of the center of Paris. It is famous for its castle that has been built by
Louis XIV, king of France in the 17th century. This impressive building is
one of Europe's largest palaces and belongs to UNESCO's Cultural World Heritage.
Its mere dimensions are overwhelming: the main building stretches 670 m (2,200 ft.),
the Mirror Gallery alone is 75 m (250 ft.) long. The
castle includes a chapel, an opera house with 712 seats, and 2,000 more rooms! Every year
3 million visitors come to the Castle of Versailles making it a "must-have-seen"
for everyone staying at Paris.
