CAOS - An Established Technique
Computer Assisted Orthopaedic Surgery is emerging from its childhood.
Orthopaedics has welcomed CAOS openly, and orthopaedic procedures nowadays
performed with robots or navigation systems number in the tens of thousands.
10 years of surgical experience with numerous systems, a variety of
applications, and the critical follow-up by the users and producers helped
to refine the systems, to establish standard procedures, and to distinguish
real benefits from pure sensationalism. CAOS has matured and left the phase
of experimenting; the transformation of CAOS into routine application changes
surgical environment, surgical thinking, and - last but not least - surgical
education. CAOS 2003 will help in this process.

CAOS 2003 will be the third annual meeting of
CAOS-International, the
International Society of Computer Assisted Orthopedic Surgery, following the
successful in Davos,
Switzerland (2001) and Santa Fe,
USA (2002).
